Attendance
At Bankfoot Primary School, we believe that good attendance is essential for every child’s success. Attending school regularly helps children build strong friendships, develop good learning habits, and make the most of the opportunities available to them. Research shows that even a few days of missed learning can have a significant impact on progress. We work closely with parents to support good attendance and ensure that every child has the best possible chance to achieve their full potential.
How We Promote and Encourage Good Attendance
To ensure all pupils attend school regularly and punctually, we have a range of strategies in place, including:
- Daily monitoring – We make phone calls to parents for any unexplained absences and conduct home visits for pupils with attendance concerns.
- Regular communication – Half-termly attendance letters are sent to parents/carers to keep them informed.
- Rewards and recognition – We celebrate excellent attendance with weekly class trophies and half-termly 100% attendance badges.
- Support for families – Our Attendance Officer works closely with parents to identify and address any barriers to regular attendance.
- Intervention where necessary – Persistent absenteeism is monitored, and families are invited to meetings to offer support and find solutions.
By working together, we can help all pupils develop good attendance habits that will benefit them throughout their education and beyond. If you need support with attendance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
