Intent

PSHE provision in our school is to deliver a holistic and progressive curriculum that equips pupils with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilled lives. Our overarching aim is to promote the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils and prepare them to become responsible citizens in a diverse society. We are committed to delivering a curriculum that is broad, balanced, and relevant to the needs of our pupils, ensuring that every child receives high-quality PSHE education that reflects the values of our school community and wider society. We also aim to enhance pupils' oracy skills, ensuring they become articulate, confident communicators.

Implementation

Our PSHE curriculum is carefully designed and sequenced to meet the needs of our pupils at different stages of their development. We use a combination of discrete lessons, cross-curricular links, assemblies, and enrichment activities to deliver a comprehensive programme of study that covers a wide range of themes, including relationships education, health and wellbeing, financial education, and online safety. Our teaching approaches are engaging, interactive, and differentiated to cater to the diverse needs of our pupils, promoting inclusivity and equality of opportunity. We nurture a growth mindset among our pupils, encouraging resilience and a positive attitude towards challenges.

We have a dedicated team of staff who are trained and confident in delivering high-quality PSHE education. Staff collaboration and professional development opportunities are prioritised to ensure consistency in teaching and learning. We actively involve parents, carers and the wider community in our PSHE provision through workshops, information sessions, and community partnerships, fostering a collaborative approach to promoting the welfare and personal development of our pupils. Assistive technology is utilised to support pupils with additional needs, ensuring that all learners have equal access to the curriculum.

Impact

PSHE provision is evident in the positive outcomes for our pupils in terms of their personal development, behaviour, and attitudes towards themselves and others. Our pupils demonstrate a deep understanding of key PSHE concepts and skills, applying them confidently in their everyday lives and relationships. They exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence, resilience, and respect for diversity, reflecting the values and ethos of our school community. Pupils' oracy skills are developed, and they become confident and articulate communicators.

Our PSHE provision has led to improvements in pupil wellbeing, mental health, and overall happiness, creating a positive and inclusive school environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported. Our pupils are empowered to make informed decisions, manage risks effectively, and contribute positively to their own health and that of others. Through regular assessment, feedback, and reflection, we continuously strive to enhance the impact of our PSHE provision, ensuring that it remains relevant, effective, and meaningful for all our pupils. Young children in EYFS are provided with a solid foundation in PSHE, preparing them to be ready for the challenges of primary school and beyond.
