Geography
Intent
Our Geography curriculum is driven by high expectations and a commitment to equipping our students with lifelong skills and a deep understanding of the world around them. To foster a sense of curiosity and understanding about the world, its people, and its environments. To help students recognise the importance of geography in everyday life, including understanding locations, cultures, and environmental issues. To equip students with key skills such as map reading, spatial thinking, and critical analysis of geographical data.
Implement
Our primary goal is to instil a love for exploration and discovery, enabling our students to make sense of the world's physical and human landscapes. We empower them with the knowledge and skills to analyse and interpret geographical data, make informed decisions, and appreciate the interconnections between people, places, and environments. Employ hands-on activities such as field trips, outdoor learning, and projects that encourage exploration and engagement. Integrate geography into the broader curriculum, ensuring it aligns with national standards and local contexts.
Impact
Students gain a better understanding of their local and global environments, cultures, and current events. An increased awareness of global issues, such as climate change and sustainability, fostering informed future citizens. Pupils will develop their practical skills such as map reading, data analysis, and interpretation of geographical information. By focusing on these aspects, Bankfoot Primary School will create a meaningful geography education that not only informs but also inspires students to engage with their world. By the time our students leave school, they will possess not only a strong foundation in Geography but also a lifelong curiosity and a global perspective that will serve them well in their future endeavours
