Through this topic, the children will explore different materials and their properties. They will carry out investigations to find out which is the best material for a given task. Our core story will be The Elves and the Shoemaker, where they will also look at the materials that the shoemaker used. This will feed into our design technology work about textiles. The children will explore ways of joining fabric together and will then design, make and decorate shoes.
