Autumn 1
This half term we will be exploring states of matter and learning about the huge impact rivers have on the land and communities they flow through.
As geographers, the children will be using maps including online mapping tools, books and images of key rivers to learn all about the different parts of a river. During this unit children will explore the science of the water-cycle and design experiments to fully understand the processes involved.

In this awesome topic we will study the civilisation that survived for over 3000 years:
Ancient Egypt
We will study their daily life, using real images and artefacts. We will learn why Egypt is called the Gift of the Nile; what their Mummification ritual involved and why they embalmed their dead. We will also study the most famous Pharaoh Tutankhamen and learn why we weren't ever meant to find out about him.

This term the topic is 'Why are Rainforests so special?' This engaging topic will unravel the mysteries of these unique ecosystems, as children delve into the diverse flora and fauna that call rainforests home. Through a blend of science, geography, and hands-on activities, children will uncover the significance of rainforests in maintaining global biodiversity. They will learn about the delicate balance of these ecosystems and the impact of human activities like deforestation.

How hard was it to invade and settle in Britain?
This term, we will be exploring the exciting challenges faced by those who tried to invade and settle in Britain throughout history. From fierce battles to tricky landscapes, we will investigate why some invaders struggled while others succeeded. We’ll learn about the geography of Britain, the resistance from local people, and the clever military tactics used by both sides. Through our discoveries, we’ll gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties faced by those trying to make Britain their home in the past. It’s going to be a fascinating journey through history!
